Overdrive Digital Collection

eBooks, Audiobooks, Videos
Getting Started
The WHS Library has a large collection of eBooks, audiobooks, and streaming video that can be downloaded for free to the following devices:
  • eReaders: Nooks, Kindles, etc. **Students can borrow Nooks and Kindles from the WHS Library. Just ASK!
  • Tablets: iPads
  • Laptops and Desktop Computers: MacBooks, Chromebooks, etc. 
  • Smartphones: iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, etc. 

Download eBooks, Audiobooks and Videos to Library Kindles and Nooks
Students can borrow a Nook or Kindle from the library for up to one month. Use the directions below to find out how to download eBooks, audiobooks, and video to these devices.

Download eBooks, Audiobooks, and Videos to your Personal Devices
Step 1: Download the Sora App
  • Download the Sora app
  • Open the app and create a free account
  • Click 'Add a library' and search for Waltham Public Schools

Step 2: Sign in to Sora
  • Sign-in with your school Google/Gmail account

Step 3: Browse the Collection
  • Browse for an eBook, audiobook or video. Once you have found something that you like, click on the cover of the book.
  • Click “Borrow.” Titles that you have borrowed will appear on your bookshelf under your account.

Step 4: Download and Enjoy
Once you have borrowed a title, you have two options. You can Read/Play the title in your browser or download the title to the Overdrive App. The benefit of downloading the title is that you will not need wireless Internet to access the title. 
Option 1: Read/Play in Your Browser: 
  • To read an eBook in your browser, click "Read (in your browser)" (see image A). 
  • To stream the video in your browser, click "Play (streaming video)" (see image B). 
  • For additional information on how to download and stream video, visit the Overdrive website.

Option 2: Download: 
  • To download a title, click "Download" and select one of the following "Adobe EPUB" for eBooks, "Overdrive MP3" for audiobooks, "Add to App" for streaming video (see image C).
Only select the "Kindle Book" format if you are using a Kindle eReader or you are using the Amazon Kindle App.  
  • To access your downloaded titles, go to the Bookshelf by clicking on the three lines in the upper left hand corner of the page (see image D). Click "Bookshelf" (see image E). Enjoy!

Step 5: Return a Title
Overdrive automatically returns titles after 28 days. To return a title early: 
  • Go to your bookshelf. 
  • Touch and hold your finger on the cover of the book or video. 
  • Select "Return" (see image F) and confirm return.
